Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer romantic comedy Kushi recorded a jump on Sunday, after a sharp decline in its collections on Saturday. The film netted Rs 11 cr across all languages, as per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk.
With this, Kushi’s first weekend collections stand at Rs 36.15 cr. Though Sunday collections saw a jump from Saturday figures of Rs 9.9 cr, it still failed to match the opening nett, which stood at an impressive Rs 15.25 cr. The Telugu film also released in Tamil and Hindi.
On its third day, Kushi recorded 51.46 percent Telugu occupancy, followed by Tamil which was at 46 percent. Afternoon shows saw the best occupancies for both the regions, which was more than 63 percent.
Kushi now gears up for the crucial Monday test, which will decide its fate. But it won’t be easy for the Shiva Nirvana directorial as Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan will see a Thursday release, on September 7. The Atlee directorial will have a wide release in Tamil and Telugu and is already garnering solid advances.
“All the actors are seasoned performers who have given their best. The film’s writing, however, fails to explore the depths that the premise could have offered. Samantha’s character deserved more development and screen time. Kushi may still appeal to families seeking an entertaining evening with their favorite stars.”
