Jawan Box Office Collection Advance Booking: After almost three years, cinema halls in India are flooded with audience. Starting with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, the year has proved fruitful for the Hindi film industry. Gadar 2, Satyaprem Ki Katha, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, OMG 2, and even a smaller film like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke have brought people back to the theatres.
This boom and the frenzy across the country, led by Shah Rukh Khan, have enabled record-breaking advance sales of his upcoming release – Jawan. At the time of writing this story, a total of 7.5 lakh tickets have been sold in India, as per ticket aggregator BookMyShow
Reflecting upon the current scenario at the ticket counters, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “The overall scenario is very positive now. People are going back to the cinemas. Those who felt Hindi cinema was dead and no one wanted to watch it, I think it has completely changed the whole scenario in the last couple of months. It’s a great period to be in.”
Jawan, helmed by Atlee, features Shah Rukh in the titular role. By the looks of it, the film seems to be a vigilante drama where SRK’s character is fighting for the country with his gang of girls. The film also stars South Indian film industry stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Deepika Padukone makes a special appearance.
Jawan to release in over 4500 screens
Film producer and trade expert, Girish Johar is confident that Jawan will cross the Rs 100 crore mark on the first day of its release (September 7). He told indianexpress.com, “The first-day expectations are skyrocketing high. I am seeing the Rs 100 cr mark easily being crossed. I am expecting a start of around $4-5 million in overseas alone, which is around Rs 40 crore and a minimum of Rs 60 crore in India”. He added that the hype around Jawan is “humongous” because of which cinema operators are planning to add more shows of the film. He confirmed that the film is releasing in over 4.5k screens and there will be morning shows of the film as well.
The national multiplexes have alone sold over 3 lakh tickets of Jawan. Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared on X (formerly Twitter), “SOLD 7 lac tickets & CROSSES ₹20 cr gross mark across all theatres in India. National Multiplexes alone sells 3 lac plus tickets for the opening day.” Sharing the breakup of the sales, he added, “National Multiplexes: PVR – 1,51,278, INOX – 1,06,297, CINEPOLIS – 52,615 Total SOLD Tickets – 3,10,190 Gross – ₹ 11.98 cr.”
He shared that the film has already earned Rs 20.06 crore from advance ticket sales, “City Wide: All Theatres Delhi Ncr – 54,238 – ₹ 2.57 cr Mumbai – 50,701 – ₹ 2.08 cr Bengaluru – 48,184 – ₹ 1.84 cr Hyderabad – 68,407 – ₹ 1.66 cr Kolkata – 45,977- ₹ 1.46 cr Chennai – 60,415- ₹ 1.06 cr India Wide All Theatres SOLD Tickets -7,27,200 Gross – ₹ 20.06 cr [Excluding Blocked Seats].”
While trade experts are confident about Jawan taking over from Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan as the biggest opener, Taran Adarsh is not expecting a figure lesser than Rs 65-70 crore for the musical-actioner on its opening day. “It will be like a new benchmark,” he said.
With Jawan, Shah Rukh is tapping into the southern territory, an audience he never catered to before. Girish Johar is confident that the actor, who is probably in the best phase of his career right now, will achieve what he intends to with Jawan. He opined, “Whatever Shah Rukh has intended to achieve with this particular film, he will realise it by making inroads into the hearts of hardcore South Indian film fanatics as well.”
